Doris Simmons, BS, CPA, is a long-time resident of Swansea and currently serves as the Councilwoman for District 4. She has held this position for four years, working diligently to improve the town through a steadfast commitment to honesty, transparency, and community service.

Prior to her role on the Town Council, Ms. Simmons served on the Lexington County School Board for District 4. During her tenure, she played a key role in enhancing communication between board members and the school district superintendent. She advocated for public involvement in the decision-making process surrounding the development of a fine arts center and acted as a liaison between the board and the community during a school safety incident involving a student with a firearm. Additionally, she testified before both the House and Senate Education Committees on behalf of the Montessori method of learning.

Ms. Simmons has owned and operated an accounting firm in Swansea since 2004. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Phoenix and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

She has been married to her husband, Harry, for 42 years, and together they have raised six children. Despite her many professional accomplishments, Ms. Simmons considers her greatest achievement to be raising her closely-knit and loving family.
