Short Term

Assess and report on current financial condition

Perform a complete and thorough audit of all Town financial activities for the last five years and report to Council and residents.

Create effective lines of communications with residents and businesses

Develop mechanisms for on-going, two-way communications with all stakeholders

Create Citizen oversight committees and Advisory boards

Develop plan to improve infrastructure

Plan to include improvement of roadways, sidewalks, public access spaces, sewer and drainage, water systems, lighting, and municipal buildings

Develop plan to encourage customer traffic along 321 corridor

Develop processes to encourage those who travel through Swansea to patronize local businesses.

Work with business community to develop a “Visitors Bureau” and encourage activities to attract visitors.

Create programs to encourage developers to improve buildings "downtown"

Provide incentives to commercial developers to take possession of derelict structures and rebuild for rental or ownership.

Seek redesign of “downtown” area to improve customer traffic. This includes improved parking, signage, lighting and traffic flow.

Long Term

Secure financing for above projects

Investigate grants and bond funding.

Improve local law enforcement services

Work with Police Chief to assess needs and make recommendations for improvements.

Restore community faith in government

Through on-going, two-way communications and transparency display the Town Government’s desire to work for the entire community to improve conditions and bolster growth.

Increase consumer traffic in Swansea

Create an environment which encourages visitors to come to Swansea.

Develop signature events to attract visitors and participants.

Develop venues to host such events.

Make Swansea a “go-to” community, not a pass-through town

Utilize advertising, public relations, and related media tools to highlight Swansea and an active and vibrant community.
